Hirons & Company Communications, Inc., was founded in 1978 in Bloomington Indiana, home of Indiana University where Tom Hirons studied and worked with Professor Phillip Burton.

philip ward burton, hirons circa 1979, hirons indianapolis office Burton's work is widely published, and he is best known for his weekly column in Advertising Age, based on his "Which Ad Pulled Best" research studies. Tom began teaching at IU in 1983 and now holds the Riley chair as a visiting lecturer on the faculty of the IU School of Journalism, and teaches the class that advances Burton's research findings and creative philosophy.

Hirons China From 1996 to 2000, Hirons maintained an office in Beijing, China, serving Fortune 500 companies, including Cummins Engine, Eli Lilly and Company and IBM. In 2000, the agency transferred its foreign assets to focus on domestic expansion, acquiring the assets of Checker Advertising Company in Indianapolis.

This Indianapolis-based agency acquisition in 2000, strengthened Hirons' statewide standing, provided expanded facilities from which Hirons could meet its service obligations to major central Indiana accounts, such as the Indiana Office of Tourism Development, Indiana Department of Natural Resources, Indianapolis Indians, Metropolitan Indianapolis Board of REALTORS® and the Indiana Health Care Association.

hirons bloomington office In 2000, the agency completed renovation of a state-of-the-art facility in downtown Bloomington. By undertaking an accredited historic renovation of an 1880 Showers Brothers building, Hirons preserved turn-of-the-century industrial architecture and a Bloomington landmark facility, while creating a techno-savvy center for converged communications.

The 30,000-square-foot facility features advanced telecommunications including dedicated server rooms for advanced Web site staging, high-tech research facilities for focus groups and utilization studies, video and audio production and postproduction studios, and videoconferencing facilities.

After successfully serving as a subcontractor on a variety of federal communications projects, Hirons earned its first GSA certification in 2004. Hirons now holds two GSA Schedule contracts, including SIN codes covering graphic design, web site development, video and film production, public relations services, advertising services, media and marketing services and integrated communcations services.

hirons new indy office In 2006 Hirons outgrew its Indianapolis office and acquired a 26,000 square foot building in downtown Indianapolis, to triple the Indianapolis office space.

In 2008 the agency will also be opening offices in Washington, D.C. to best serve its growing federal account responsibilities. Hirons has maintained a methodical, research-based and results-oriented approach to communications.
